ADVISORS UNPACKED · VIRGIN GORDA, BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS Our luxury travel specialists stay at the hotels, eat at the restaurants, and report back exactly what they think — so you can book with confidence, not guesswork. This review is based on a firsthand visit by Elli Travel Group Co-Founder Juan & Kristen Fernandez. |
About the Advisors Juan Fernandez · Co-Founder, Elli Travel Group Specialty: Luxury Caribbean, Safari, South America, Expedition Cruising, Rosewood Elite Preferred Partner since 2017. Kristen Fernandez · Co-Founder, Elli Travel Group Specialty: Luxury Caribbean, Safari, Hawaii, Multigenerational travel. Rosewood Elite Preferred Partner since 2017. Juan on Rosewood Little Dix Bay: "The complimentary butler-led beach picnic is the one experience I tell every traveler to request before arrival — it's not on the website, it's not on the room service menu, and it's the thing people mention first when they come home. Three hours on a secluded beach, cooler packed by the resort, no other guests in sight. That's the version of Little Dix Bay that makes people book again." |
Best for: Couples, honeymooners, and travelers seeking barefoot Caribbean luxury in a genuinely secluded setting. Less suited to guests who want a large resort with extensive kids' programming.
Rosewood Little Dix Bay sits on one of the most beautiful half-miles of sand in the Caribbean — a crescent-shaped bay on Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands, originally opened by the Rockefeller family and now one of the defining addresses in the Rosewood portfolio.
As a certified Rosewood Elite travel agency, Elli Travel Group visited Little Dix Bay firsthand and this review is based on that stay. When you book through us, you receive exclusive Elite benefits — daily breakfast for two, a $100–$125 resort credit, room upgrade priority, and VIP recognition — all at the same published rate you'd find booking directly. Tree House Suites at Rosewood Little Dix Bay: What to Expect
One of the most enchanting experiences at Rosewood Little Dix Bay was staying in the Tree House Suites. Perched above the lush greenery, these suites provide a sense of tranquility with a stunning sea view.
The design of the Tree House Suites is breathtaking. They feature spacious open-concept layouts, wooden accents, and floor-to-ceiling windows that allow for stunning panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea. The private terraces, complete with comfortable loungers, make it the perfect spot to sip your morning coffee or enjoy a sunset cocktail.
Inside, the suites are thoughtfully equipped with modern amenities, from plush king-sized beds to luxurious bathrooms with soaking tubs 🛁, indoor and outdoor showers all while maintaining an organic, earthy feel.
Rosewood Little Dix Bay is one of the few resorts in the Caribbean where 95% the rooms are just steps to the beautiful white sand beach.

Another highlight of our stay at Rosewood Little Dix Bay was the breathtaking infinity pool. Overlooking the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean Sea, this pool is the ultimate spot to unwind. The seamless edge creates the illusion of merging with the ocean
Surrounded by lush tropical landscaping and comfortable loungers, the infinity pool is both serene and sophisticated. Whether you’re taking a refreshing dip or lounging poolside with a cocktail the tranquil ambiance and spectacular views make this a must-visit feature of the resort. It’s also perfect for families, as its steps from the ocean so that kids and adults can easily enjoy both experiences without having to move throughout the day.

Frequently Asked Questions About Rosewood Little Dix Bay
Is Rosewood Little Dix Bay worth the price?
Yes — with a qualifier. Little Dix Bay delivers one of the most genuinely secluded luxury experiences in the Caribbean. The beach, the service, and the sense of removal from the world are exceptional. Where guests occasionally note friction is the effort required to get there (multiple connections, boat transfers) and the remote island pace, which is a feature for some and a limitation for others. If you want a buzzing resort with nightlife and a wide dining scene, this isn't your property. If you want a beautiful, quiet, butler-attended Caribbean escape, it's among the best.
Which room should I book at Rosewood Little Dix Bay?
The Tree House Suites are the signature experience — perched above the canopy with panoramic sea views, fully private, and genuinely unlike anything else in the Caribbean. They are not beachfront but the tradeoff in privacy and views is worth it for couples. For beach proximity, the Cottage rooms are steps from the sand. Villas are the pinnacle — private pools, dedicated butlers, in-villa dining — and best suited for special occasions or families. Your Elli Travel advisor will recommend the right category for your travel style and dates.
Does Rosewood Little Dix Bay have a beach?
Yes — a spectacular one. The resort sits on a protected half-mile crescent of white sand, and the water is calm, warm, and swimmable. Approximately 95% of all rooms are within easy walking distance of the beach. The resort also operates complimentary beach drop excursions to secluded beaches around Virgin Gorda — one of the most memorable experiences at the property.
Does Rosewood Little Dix Bay participate in Rosewood Elite?
Yes. When booked through Elli Travel Group, guests receive exclusive Rosewood Elite benefits at Little Dix Bay — including daily breakfast for two, a $100–$125 resort credit, complimentary room upgrade upon arrival (subject to availability), and VIP recognition by hotel management. These benefits are not available through direct booking or online travel agencies, and there is no additional cost.
What is the best time of year to visit Rosewood Little Dix Bay?
The British Virgin Islands enjoy warm, sunny weather year-round. Peak season runs December through April, when the weather is driest and trade winds are most consistent — also when the property is busiest and rates are highest. May through November is considered off-peak, with occasional rain and slightly lower rates. Hurricane season officially runs June through November, though the BVI rarely takes direct hits. Our advisors recommend January through March for the best combination of weather, atmosphere, and advance booking advantage.
How do I get to Rosewood Little Dix Bay?
The property is only accessible by air or boat, which is part of its appeal. Most travelers fly to San Juan, Puerto Rico, or St. Thomas, USVI, then take a connecting flight or charter to Virgin Gorda or Tortola. From Tortola, the resort offers a private boat transfer across the Sir Francis Drake Channel — a scenic 20-minute crossing that marks the start of the experience. Helicopter transfers are also available. Your Elli Travel advisor will coordinate all logistics as part of the booking process.
Can I combine a Rosewood Elite booking with current Rosewood promotions?
In most cases, yes. Rosewood Elite benefits are generally stackable with published rate promotions. Current offers — including the suite discount and advance purchase savings — can often be combined with your Elite breakfast, resort credit, and upgrade. Contact us to confirm what's available for your specific dates.
How to Get There: Flights, Boats & Transfers
Fly to Tortola, BVI Hop on a flight to Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport (EIS) on Tortola. Many major airlines connect via San Juan 🇵🇷, Miami or other Caribbean hubs.
Choose Your TransferOnce you land, you have a few options to continue your journey: Speedboat: The resort’s private luxury boat can whisk you across the crystal-clear waters of the Sir Francis Drake Channel —a scenic 20-minute ride to Virgin Gorda.
Helicopter: For a touch of glamour, book a breathtaking helicopter transfer directly to the resort.
Fly to St. Thomas, USVI
· To reach Rosewood Little Dix Bay, you can charter a private water taxi or take the public ferry to Virgin Gorda. The trip is approximately 90 to 120 minutes. The boats can either leave from Charlotte Amalie while others depart from Red Hook.
· You can charter a flight from St. Thomas to Virgin Gorda with several local companies as well.
Fly to Virgin Gorda

Why Choose Rosewood Little Dix Bay?
Rosewood Little Dix Bay isn’t just a resort—it’s a timeless escape. Whether you’re planning a romantic retreat , a luxurious family vacation , or simply seeking to unwind in paradise, this destination offers an unforgettable experience. With its exceptional service, stunning surroundings, and attention to detail, it’s no wonder this resort is regarded as one of the best in the Caribbean.
Who Should Stay at Rosewood Little Dix Bay
Couples and honeymooners.
Little Dix Bay was built around barefoot Caribbean luxury — unhurried, intimate, and entirely removed from the world. The Treehouse Suites are the signature choice for couples, with elevated seclusion and panoramic sea views from a private terrace. The Butler Beach Picnic excursion is worth requesting before arrival for any couple celebrating a milestone.
Multigenerational families.
The resort's category structure is designed for groups who want to be close together without sharing a single roof. Villa Columbus and Villa Lawrence sit side by side on the western side of the property and can be booked together for families of 10 or more. The Ocean View Cottages and Junior Suites cluster in connecting groups of four, giving families flexibility at a lower price point.
Travelers celebrating a milestone.
The villa categories — private pools, dedicated butlers, in-villa dining — make Little Dix Bay one of the strongest choices in the Caribbean for anniversaries, milestone birthdays, or proposal trips. The property's scale (82 accommodations) means it never feels like a convention center, and the service calibration at the villa level is exceptional.
Travelers who want a genuinely secluded beach, not a scene.
Little Dix Bay's half-mile beach is quiet, calm, and largely private to resort guests. It is not a scene beach — there are no beach clubs, no DJ sets, no vendor hawking. If you want Nikki Beach, this isn't your property. If you want a beach that feels like it belongs to you, this is one of the best in the Caribbean.
Travelers who are not well-suited for Little Dix Bay.
If extensive kids' programming is the priority, the resort's scale limits what's available compared to larger Caribbean properties. If nightlife or a wide independent restaurant scene matters, Virgin Gorda's island pace is a significant constraint. If the multi-connection journey to the BVI feels like friction rather than adventure, there are easier-to-reach Caribbean alternatives worth considering.
Biggest Booking Mistake
Biggest booking mistake: booking a room category without asking about the cluster configuration. The Ocean View Cottages and Junior Suites are arranged in groups of four — two above, two below — with connecting options. A family that books two Cottages without specifying they need to connect may end up in separate clusters with no proximity to each other. Tell your advisor before booking, not after arrival.
Before You Book: Questions Our Travelers Ask Us
We're a family of five. Which room configuration do you recommend?
For a family of five, we typically recommend either two connecting Ocean View Cottages or Junior Suites — which give each subgroup their own space with a shared connecting door — or the Two-Bedroom Suite centrally located on the beach, with a rollaway for the fifth guest. If budget allows, Villa Columbus (two bedrooms plus a living room) is the most comfortable single-unit option for five.
How far in advance should we book?
For peak season (December through April), we recommend booking four to six months in advance, especially for Treehouse Suites and the Beach Villas, which are limited in number and book quickly. The advance purchase discount (up to 30% off with a five-night minimum) requires booking at least 30 days out and full prepayment — for guests with fixed travel dates, this is worth considering.
Can we do day trips from the resort?
Yes — and The Baths is the must-do. Rosewood Little Dix Bay runs a complimentary guided excursion to The Baths, Virgin Gorda's signature natural attraction, with giant granite boulders, hidden sea pools, and clear-water grottoes. The resort's butler-led beach picnic to a secluded beach is equally memorable and should be requested before arrival, not after check-in.
Do Rosewood Elite benefits apply to the suite and villa discount offers?
In most cases, yes — Rosewood Elite benefits are generally stackable with published promotions including the Suite Getaway discount and the Advance Purchase offer. We confirm stackability for your specific dates as part of the booking process. This is one of the reasons booking through a Rosewood Elite agency rather than direct or through an OTA matters: we have the relationship to confirm what stacks and what doesn't.
Should we fly into Tortola or St. Thomas?
For most US travelers, Tortola via San Juan (with connections from most major hubs) is the cleanest routing — it puts you 20 minutes by boat from the resort. St. Thomas works but adds a longer ferry or charter transfer. We coordinate all logistics as part of the booking, including the private boat transfer from Tortola directly to the resort.
