The Ocean Club, A Four Seasons Resort Bahamas: An Insider Review for Luxury Caribbean Travelers

  • 6 min read

For 63 years, The Ocean Club has welcomed everyone from The Beatles to James Bond — and it remains one of the Caribbean's most storied luxury addresses. Set on the pink sands of Paradise Island, this Four Seasons resort carries the kind of history that newer properties simply can't manufacture. We recently sat down with Sunibel Or, The Ocean Club's Director of Sales, to get an insider's look at what makes this Luxury Caribbean resort so enduringly special — and what Elli Travel Group clients can expect when they book through us as a Four Seasons Preferred Partner.

The Hartford Wing vs. The Crescent Wing: What’s the Difference?

The resort’s 107 rooms are divided between two distinct wings, each offering its own ambiance and aesthetic.

The Hartford Wing: Located at the center of the property, the Hartford Wing connects directly to the lobby, spa, pools, and tennis courts. Fully renovated in 2016, these rooms feature a modern design, with neutral tones that highlight a simple elegance. Garden and ocean view categories are available, and all rooms include queen-size sleeper sofas and connecting options, making the Hartford Wing ideal for families with children.

The Crescent Wing: Tucked to the side of the resort for maximum privacy, the Crescent Wing was fully renovated in 2023 and retains a classic Bahamian style of subtle whites with coral accents and natural wood. Every room faces the ocean, with hammocks dotting the lawn below. Larger in size and more secluded, the Crescent Wing is a favorite for couples.

The Ocean Club Four Seasons Resort Dining & Atmosphere: Elegant, Social, and Timeless

Dining at The Ocean Club is a study in relaxed sophistication.

Dune by Jean-Georges: Dune by Jean-Georges is the resort's signature restaurant and one of the finest dining experiences in the Bahamas. Perched oceanfront with sweeping views of the Atlantic, it serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner — each meal shaped by Jean-Georges Vongerichten's signature approach of bold flavors rooted in local ingredients. Whether it's a leisurely breakfast before a beach day or a candlelit dinner as the sun drops into the water, Dune sets a standard that few Caribbean restaurants match.

Ocean Blue: A breezy spot perfect for casual lunches and cocktails by the beach.

Dune Bar & Martini Bar: Evenings come alive here with live music. The vibe very "loungy," as Sunibel put it, “think saxophone, a singer, something relaxed from Thursday through Sunday.”

The vibe throughout the resort is lively yet intimate — sophisticated travelers enjoying the finer things without the crowds or noise of neighboring mega-resorts.

History, Hollywood, and Art: What Makes The Ocean Club Four Seasons Resort Unique

“We’ve been around for 63 years,” Sunibel said, “welcoming everyone from The Beatles to James Bond.”

James Bond fans will immediately recognize the resort’s grand driveway from Casino Royale, where several classic scenes were filmed.

Adding to its cultural appeal, the resort partners with local artist Jane Waterous, whose studio and gallery are located just down the beach. Her works adorn the lobby, creating a sense of place and connection to the Bahamian art scene.

Pools & Relaxation: Something for Every Mood

The Ocean Club’s pools offer a choice between serenity and family fun.

Versailles Pool (Adults Only): Set within the stunning Versailles Gardens, this elegant pool epitomizes tranquility.

Ocean Pool (Family-Friendly): Steps from the beach, this pool captures the quintessential Bahamian backdrop.

Kids’ Pool: A grotto-style, zero-entry pool near the Kids For All Seasons Club.

“Even at our highest occupancy levels, it never feels crowded — everything is so open and spacious.”

Golfing at Paradise: The Ocean Club Golf Course

Just five minutes away by the resort’s house car, guests enjoy exclusive access to the Ocean Club Golf Course — a championship-level experience with sweeping ocean views. While independently managed, Ocean Club guests receive preferred tee times and full use of the clubhouse.

Fees vary by time and day, but the scenic golfing experience is one of the most desirable rounds in the Caribbean and loved by clients looking for a Luxury Caribbean Experience.

Families & Fun at Atlantis

One of The Ocean Club’s biggest advantages is its complimentary access to nearby Atlantis, located just a 5-minute shuttle or 20-minute beach walk away. Guests can enjoy the water slides, marine habitats, and family pools, then return to the peace and privacy of The Ocean Club. Adults often visit Atlantis in the evening for fine dining, shopping, or the casino, while families spend the day exploring its aquatic adventures.

It’s the best of both worlds according to Sunibel, where "intimate luxury meets family excitement."

The Man Behind the Martini: Keith Cash

No stay at The Ocean Club is complete without a visit to the Martini Bar — home to legendary bartender Keith Cash, who has been shaking and stirring cocktails here for more than 37 years. Known for his warm personality and impeccable craft, Keith has become part of the resort’s identity. Guests might recognize him from industry events like Virtuoso Travel Week or LE Miami, where he often represents The Ocean Club in person — mixing his signature drinks for travel advisors around the world.

His most famous creation, the Vesper Martini, draws inspiration from Casino Royale. Keith’s longevity and charm reflect the spirit of the resort itself: timeless, elegant, and authentically Bahamian.

The Villas: Ultimate Seaside Privacy

For families and groups seeking complete privacy, The Ocean Club’s three beachfront villas represent the pinnacle of Bahamian luxury. Each residence features three or four bedrooms, a private infinity-edge pool, and direct access to the beach. Guests enjoy the services of a dedicated housekeeping team, private butlers, and a personal chef — breakfast included daily. The butler team acts as a full concierge, able to arrange anything from yacht charters to poolside BBQs or private celebrations.

Inside, two master suites overlook the pool and ocean, with a third bedroom featuring two queen beds and a fourth detached king suite — perfect for in-laws, nannies, or teens craving space. For multi-generational families or groups of friends, the villas offer a home-away-from-home atmosphere where luxury and independence meet — a secluded sanctuary just steps from Four Seasons service.

Getting to Paradise: How to Reach The Ocean Club

The Ocean Club is one of the Caribbean’s most accessible luxury destinations. Nassau’s Lynden Pindling International Airport offers frequent nonstop flights from major U.S. cities (especially the Northeast), as well as from Toronto, London, and Panama City.

Private jet travelers can use either of Nassau’s two FBO terminals, and all guests benefit from U.S. Customs, Global Entry, and TSA PreCheck clearance on-island — meaning you’ll land back home as a domestic arrival.

From the airport, it’s a 35–40 minute drive to Paradise Island, crossing a scenic bridge that connects Nassau to this exclusive enclave.
